10 more days! You are of course all done shopping and cleaning, everything is organized so you don’t have to lift a finger on Christmas day? Hahahaha! Yeah, me either.

Here’s a few fun Christmas countdown apps, Here and Here.

Norad Santa tracker has a countdown clock too. I loved the Santa tracker, some how it always showed that Santa was close and, “Oh my gosh! better get into bed boys!”

Also, I love this video about a little boy impatiently waiting for the big day!

I don’t think I can do without the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his Christmas Eve journey of redemption at this time of year.

Many of the familiar things we enjoy about the Christmas holiday sprang from that story; wishing someone a “Merry Christmas,” for example! And, when you call someone a “Scrooge”, exclaim “God bless us, everyone!”, or utter the phrase “Bah Humbug”, everyone knows what you mean.

Everyone has had a crack at the story:

Small town theater productions

Dr Who!

Even the Muppets had their way with it.

I’ll admit I enjoy every incarnation of the tale.

I’ve been in the habit of re-reading the story the last couple of Christmas’. And you can too, for free! Google Books and the University of Virginia have kindly published them online.
Amazon offers it for the Kindle for free and over at Barnes & Noble it’s a meer $0.99

Next year would have been Charles Dickens 200th birthday. The Charles Dickens Museum is planing big things!

Party season is upon us! Time to warm our cockles and melt our brains with a nice drink. (In moderation of course! Or you know, not. Heh)

(Birthdate required for sign in. It’s so depressing how far I have to scroll back to find my birth year! I need a drink!)

Jamie Oliver’s Mulled Wine

Ashley over at Little Pink Blog has great cocktails based on the Harry Potter characters.

Disaronno is a favorite winter tipple for me. Try the Italian Egg Nog!

Also, I’ll dust off this post from last Christmas: The Bing and Bowie Christmas Cocktail

And finally I’d like you to meet my new favorite YouTuber Mamrie Hart, hostess of “You Deserve A Drink.”

Her hilarious mixology show pokes fun at pop culture and celebrities. It goes without saying (you should know me by now!) that the content (mostly language) is NSFW. This episode is for Thanksgiving but the recipes would be just as nice for Christmas.

If you have an extra few minutes check out the episode for Flaming Butter Beer. Harry Potter fans will get a laugh!

Cheers!

The Cinnamon Bear is so dear to my heart. It’s an old-time holiday radio series circa 1937 that is rebroadcast every year starting after Thanksgiving.

When the boys were preschoolers we would tune in to our local Oregon station and catch every episode. Each lasted about 15 minutes, the conclusion of the story was on Christmas Eve.

Now you can download it for a mere twenty bills. Or here as an MP3 from Amazon, for 7.99!

It’s totally worth every penny and you can start a wonderful tradition.

So, what kind of dude do you have? Tech nerd? Sporto? A Dandy Gent? Is he all of the above?
